Mr. Peter Young (Day ride around Hanoi on Honda XR 250cc, ~150 km)

    - Tempo of the tour and the stop-over: Good mix of riding and walking around. Perfect for what I wanted.

    - Transportation: Very happy with equipment. Appreciated having good safety gear, especially after we got out into the traffic.

    - Food: Great. Lunch at an authentic cafe was delicious.

    - The organization - Guide services: Linh was excellent. A genuinely nice guy. I enjoyed getting to know a local during the day. Ling was also very knowledgeable which helped too.

    - The price: I was happy with the gear, the guide, and the organising that went into the trip. Maybe someone else is cheaper but I would definitely use this company again.

    Hi Anh,

Thanx again and am loving Vietnam esp its coffee introduced to us by Long. Anyway to save myself repeating I'll write my blurb and hope you can use as u please, Cheers Chris.

My first interaction with Offroad Vietnam was more than positive. Anh was very prompt and straightforward in his communication from the start. Originally my girlfriend and I intended to just follow the lonely planet's recommended places, however, Anh's local knowledge and insight guided us to what was (without exaggeration) the trip of a lifetime - to Mai Chau and we will be forever indebted for this. I know we will be back for longer tours!!! Long, our tour leader is just tops and an easy going bloke whose love for his country and ability to share his everyday experience with you is reflected in his love of motorbike riding. He also loves a beer or five!

RE payment for those of us in Australia not used to Western Union Transferring - normally I would be very skeptical of places that request payment via this method however, as you can see, it worked out more than well. Highly recommended and worth the price.

Bravo, Merry Christmas and I am already thinking when I can ride with you guys again.

    Cheers,
    Chris.

    Hello Anh,

See below for my comments on the trip to Mai Chau.

"We took a two day trip from Hanoi to Mai Chau over the weekend of September 19, 2009. The guide was great and spoke clearly in English. The tour was great as well, driving through smaller villages was a great opportunity to see the local culture. Stayed overnight in a stilt house in Mai Chau which was included in the tour price as well as the meals. Nice accomodations and the local villagers performed traditional dances right in our stilt house accomodations. Great experience!!"

    Thanks, Bob

Mr. Homer Brockner (U.S.A.)Mr. Homer Brockner (Three days ride to Phu Yen & Vu Linh on Honda XR 250cc, ~500 km)

Anh Wu - need ice for cocktails next time! I will bring a small cooker with ice.

It is my opinion that 2nd visit/tour is even better and more enjoyable than the 1st. Everything I wanted to do was handled easily with zero problem.

    - Tempo of the tour and the stop-over: Excellent pace/every request fulfilled. Mighty Quynh is top-notch guide, interpreter, rider, body guard, and friend.

    - Transportation: Excellent as always, from airport pickups to dirt trail navigation.

    - Accommodation: 5 - star. Hospitality is tops because people of Vietnam are the friendliest people on earth.

    - Food: 6 - star.

    - The organization - Guide services: 7 - star.

    - The price: 8 - star.

Mr. & Mrs. David & Karen Brown (England)Mr. & Mrs. David & Karen Brown (Three days ride to Mai Chau and Phu Yen on Honda 160cc road motorcycles, ~500 km)

    Guide was superb.

We would recommend using Offroad Vietnam for their organisation of the tour, local knowledge and excellent route planning.

It would be better for potential customers to see a copy of the disclaimer form up front before booking.

    - Tempo of the tour and the stop-over: Good, right level of motorcycling to rest to "sightseeing".

    - Transportation: Motorcycles were OK. For David a little small (in size), for Karen OK (in size) but a little underpowered out of town for both of us.

    - Accommodation: Mai Chau - excellent. Phu Yen - OK.

    - Food: All food was good. Eating in local town/village cafes was really good.

    - The organization - Guide services: Excellent. Khanh was a very good guide with lots of knowledge and a very nice way about him which made him feel like a friend.

    - The price: Acceptable. It is very difficult based on local costs whether it was value for money. Even so, we were happy to pay the amount of money that we did.

Mr. David Lees (England)Mr. David Lees (Three days ride to Mai Chau and Ninh Binh on Honda 125cc trail motorcycle, ~500 km)

Long can't drink as much as Englishmen, but that doesn't mean he wasn't an absolutely fantastic guide, in fact not a guide, a mate.

    - Tempo of the tour and the stop-over: Good tempo with plenty of breaks for coffee and tea to warm up.

    - Transportation: Few problems with motorbike but Long was very good mechanic and problems were fixed quickly + efficiently.

    - Accommodation: Homestay was fantastic - great food and comfy sleeping quarters. The Long Hotel in Ninh Binh was ok but very expensive for food, drink.

    - Food: All food was fantastic throughout journey. Long always picked best places.

    - The organization - Guide services: Great organisation, when weather got bad, routes were changed but without spoiling the adventure. Very good organising.

    - The price: Great price for such great food, fantastic guide and accommodation.

Mr. Dave Exley (Canada)Mr. Dave Exley (Three days ride to Mai Chau and Ninh Binh on Honda 160cc road motorcycle, ~500 km)

Thanks for assembling all of our photos.

    Great trip overall!!

    - Tempo of the tour and the stop-over: Very good: I liked the "flexible" itinerary. Pace on bikes was perfect, enough rests. Was over too fast!!.

    - Transportation: Motorcycle worked well, would stall when idling, but otherwise in good mechanical shape.

    - Accommodation: Homestay was not quite what I expected, but enjoyable. Hotel @ Ninh Binh was disappointing (no heat, TV didn't work) but clean & comfortable.

    - Food: Very good.

    - The organization - Guide services: Excellent (even w/out a map). Knows what's best for group, flexible (depending on weather), great mechanic & can hold his beer much better than "Luke" (A tour guide from another group).

    - The price: Probably a little expensive, but the guide was well worth the premium.

Long was awesome! Glad he was able to fix all the problems with the bikes, stayed really positive.

Thanks for combining all of our pictures, that was great.

    - Tempo of the tour and the stop-over: Good, I liked all the drink breaks to warm up + visit.

    - Transportation: Really liked my bike, easy to ride.

    - Accommodation: Not bad.

    - Food: Very good.

    - The organization - Guide services: Good - Appreciated the options of more than one route, especially since the weather was so bad. Glad Long knew the area and took us to a pagoda since the boat trip was so busy.

    - The price: Good.

Mr. Ian Clements (Australia)Mr. Ian Clements (Three days ride to Mai Chau and Ninh Binh on Honda 125cc trail motorcycle, ~500 km)

I programmed my year's holiday, spent extra money to send my family on another tour at the same time. But I didn't go "off road" even once.

    - Tempo of the tour and the stop-over: Relaxed tour - enough time for photo's etc.

    - Transportation: My Honda XL 125cc was in good condition but had dirty fuel so no faster acceleration which was dangerous when trying to overtake.

    - Accommodation: Really good.

    - Food: Even better - I'm a vegetarian and had no problems - yummy!.

    - The organization - Guide services: Long is a great guide - good road side mechanic too.

    - The price: If we did "off road" driving I would & did pay this price happily. But I did something similar by myself in Laos much cheaper. I was hoping you could take me to some places I can not do myself.

    Ahn Wu,

After completing a three day ride around North Central Vietnam, I am counting the days until my return for a longer tour of the Ho Chi Minh Trail. My ride was very well organized with zero problems related to visa procurement, airport logistics, and hotel accommodations. The wonderful staff at Offroad Vietnam handled everything. My bike and guide were top quality and the beautiful scenery and friendly people made for a most memorable tour. Next time I will be sure to book a longer ride.

Thanks again and see you soon,

Mr. Markus Windolf (Germany) and Mrs. Sophie Verrier (France)Mr. Markus Windolf and Mrs. Sophie Verrier (Three days ride to Mai Chau and Phu Yen on Honda full road motorcycle, 510 km)

All in all: An impressive experience. We had a really good time and were satisfied, even though expectations were high with respect to the pricing.

    - Tempo of the tour and the stop-over: Very good.

    - Transportation: Motorcycle was reliable even though a few adjustment was necessary once. However, engine a bit too weak for two persons. Maintenance could be better before starting a trip.

    - Accommodation: 1st: Very nice, we enjoyed it alot. 2nd: OK

    - Food: Tasty! A lot variation. We liked it.

    - The organization - Guide services: Friendly, care-taking, quick with spontaneous ideas for making us an unforgettable trip.

    - The price: Price is high, even for European and American standards. We expected alot for this journey. Suggestion: At least drinking water should be included in the package. A 250cc bike, comfortable for two should be provided when two people on one bike and both are paying full.

Mr. Adam Cohen (United States of America)Mr. Adam Cohen (Three days ride out of Hanoi on Honda full road motorcycle, 470 km)

I highly recommend Offroad Vietnam for experienced riders.

    - Tempo of the tour and the stop-over: The tour was excellent. The tempo is what you want it to be. Mine was just right.

    - Transportation: The motorbike is small but reliable and powerful enough for our needs.

    - Accommodation: The accommodations were acceptable and it was a great experience to stay in local establishments.

    - Food: The food was fantastic. I have nothing else to say.

    - The organization - Guide services: The office was great to deal with and my guide was pleasant, knowledgeable and friendly.

    - The price: The price was fair.

    - How did you hear about us? I found them on Internet.

Mr. Wouters Jelle (Two days ride out of Hanoi on Honda full road motorcycle, ~250 km)

    - Tempo of the tour and the stop-over: Overall tempo of the tour was good, maybe little slower in city and faster on highway. Plenty of time to rest during stop-overs.

    - Transportation: The guide was very good, gave a lot of information. Maybe before tour starts, explain a bit about the way people ride in Vietnam. My motorbike was good, but could use better brakes.

    - Accommodation: The accommodation could be better, heater was broken, TV didn't work.

    - Food: The food was overall very good, easy for European people (not too spicy).

    - The organization - Guide services: Organisation and guide services are very good. Ngoc is adapted if there are problems or after preferences.

Mr. Wouters Marc (Two days ride out of Hanoi on Honda full road motorcycle, ~250 km)

    - Tempo of the tour and the stop-over: Good.

    - Transportation: Verify the engine. Not reliable to ride in the city of Hanoi.

    - Accommodation: Too much small problems: air-con not working in 1 room, TV not working in 2 rooms, very little hot water.

    - Food: Acceptable.

    - The organization - Guide services: Excellent.

Mr. Peter King (Australia)Mr. Peter King (Day ride out of Hanoi on Honda full road motorcycle, ~100 km)

    - Tempo of the tour and the stop-over: The tempo of the tour was excellent. At 54 years of age they catered to my needs. So much so that I could do another tour next year and so on.

    - Transportation: The 160cc was great. Just enough power to pull my 93 kgs and get me out of trouble.

    - Food: Good.

    - The organization - Guide services: Ngoc was excellent.

    - The price: Good for what you get.

Ms. Svetlana Nesterushkina and Ms. Sytnik Olga (Russia)Ms. Svetlana Nesterushkina and Ms. Sytnik Olga (2 days Thac Ba Lake on Honda moped scooters, ~400 km)

    - Tempo of the tour and the stop-over: The tempo was good, we enjoyed the flexibility of stopping where we liked.

    - Transportation: We especially enjoyed the trip on the boat with our bikes. Was very scenic and unusual.

    - Accommodation: Very nice and friendly people, an unusual house. It was interesting to learn about an ethnic group.

    - Food: The lunch was great (the fish was very fresh), the dinner at the Zao people was very tasty and full of hospitality. The breakfast wasn't very exciting. Maybe it's a good idea to have some fruit stops on the way.

    - The organization - Guide services: The guide was great! Very helpful, very friendly and an interesting person. He was rather creative and sensitive to our wishes.

    - The price: It certainly isn't cheap, but the program is good, the guide is good, so it's worth it.
